During the main Fallas days (March 14–19), Valencia receives around one million visitors.
This means the city center can become extremely crowded, especially in the evening and at night.
2. Many streets are closed to traffic
During Fallas, many streets are closed to cars.
Fallas associations set up tents, stages and monuments in the streets, so driving through the city center becomes almost impossible.
3. The city center becomes pedestrian-only
During the main days of the festival, large parts of central Valencia are restricted to pedestrians only.
Areas around Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Valencia and the historic center have very limited vehicle access.
4. The mascletà is not a "gentle" fireworks show
Every day at 2:00 PM there is a mascletà in Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Valencia.
It's not about colors in the sky - it's a powerful explosion of sound that you can feel in your chest and under your feet.
5. Walking in the center can be slow
In neighborhoods like Ruzafa and El Carmen, moving around can be difficult because of the crowds.
Sometimes it takes a long time just to walk a few streets.
6. Firecrackers are everywhere
During Fallas you will hear firecrackers constantly.
Children and adults set them off in many streets, so stay alert and don't stand too close when someone is lighting fireworks.
7. Sleeping can be difficult
Between music, street parties, fireworks and crowds, sleeping well during Fallas can be a challenge.
Many locals say Valencia barely sleeps during these days.
8. Public transport can get very crowded
Public transport such as Metrovalencia runs longer hours, but trains and stations can become very crowded after big events.
9. Restaurants fill up quickly
During Fallas, restaurants and bars are often full.
If you want to try the famous Paella valenciana, it's better to book in advance or eat outside peak hours.
10. La Cremà attracts huge crowds
The festival ends on March 19 with La Cremà , when all the Fallas monuments are burned.
It's spectacular but also extremely crowded.
