Sofía Garrigues was born in Teulada-Moraira on May 30, 2001. She always liked football, but had to join the rhythmic gymnastics team, as not many other girls were interested in a sport mainly played by boys. Although she was one of the best in the Llebeig club, she never forgot about her favourite sport and finally was able to join the Benidorm team in the category “Cadete” occupying the position of a half forward. With her team she plays in the 1st provincial women´s league against clubs from Elche, Villareal, Alicante, Valencia etc. Her position expects her to mark goals. She has 7 on the record this season and her performance during the Costa Blanca Cup was remarkable.
The Costa Blanca Cup is an international championship and Sofía played against teams from: Spain, Finland, China, Japan, United States, Belgium, Turkey and made it to the final. Carlos Linares, Mayor of Teulada-Moraira and the councillor of sports, Mario Font, welcomed Sofía at the Town Hall, congratulated her to this fantastic success and hope with her to carry on loving her sport as much as she does at the moment.
