From 27 June to 4 July 2026, Valencia proudly opens its arms to welcome thousands of athletes, supporters, families and visitors from around the world for the Gay Games 2026. It is a great honour for our city to become the first Spanish host of this extraordinary international event, where sport, culture, equality and friendship come together.

Valencia is much more than a beautiful destination. It is a Mediterranean city that has always looked towards the sea and the world with an open mind. Here, diversity is celebrated, inclusion is a shared value, and every visitor is invited to feel at home.

More than 10,000 participants from over 80 countries will transform our streets into a vibrant meeting place of cultures and experiences. Not only will you enjoy world-class sporting competitions, but also concerts, exhibitions, cultural performances and countless events that will fill the city with energy and colour. Moreover, the warm Mediterranean climate, our renowned gastronomy and the hospitality of Valencians will make your stay truly unforgettable.

However, while the competitions are undoubtedly the heart of the Gay Games, we encourage you to take time to discover everything Valencia has to offer.

A visit to the Albufera Natural Park is essential. Just a few kilometres from the city centre, this peaceful lagoon is famous for its spectacular sunsets and is the birthplace of authentic Valencian paella.

In the historic centre, explore the magnificent Valencia Cathedral, home to the revered Holy Chalice, believed by many to be the Holy Grail. Climb the iconic Miguelete Tower, where breathtaking panoramic views reward every step.

Continue your journey through history by visiting the impressive Quart Towers and Serranos Towers, two medieval gateways that once protected the ancient city and today stand as symbols of Valencia’s rich heritage.

Moreover, no visit would be complete without discovering the spectacular City of Arts and Sciences, one of Europe’s most impressive architectural and cultural complexes. Whether you choose to visit the Oceanogràfic, the Science Museum or simply stroll through its futuristic surroundings, this landmark perfectly reflects Valencia’s innovative spirit.

Of course, Valencia also offers a lively and welcoming LGBTQ+ nightlife. The fashionable neighbourhood of Russafa has become the city’s creative and inclusive heart, full of charming cafés, cocktail bars, pubs and vibrant venues where everyone is welcome.

For those looking to dance until sunrise, the legendary Deseo 54 remains one of Spain’s most iconic LGBTQ+ nightclubs. Together with the many bars and clubs throughout Russafa, it guarantees unforgettable nights filled with music, friendship and celebration.

Furthermore, don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy Valencia’s outstanding cuisine. Taste authentic paella, fresh seafood, traditional tapas and refreshing horchata while discovering the city’s sunny terraces and welcoming atmosphere.

The Gay Games are about much more than medals. They celebrate respect, equality, friendship and the power of sport to unite people from every background. Valencia is proud to host this global celebration and looks forward to welcoming each and every one of you with open arms.

On behalf of the people of Valencia, I wish all athletes, companions and visitors an unforgettable experience. May you compete with passion, discover our culture with curiosity and leave with lifelong memories—and perhaps with a little piece of Valencia forever in your heart.

Welcome to Valencia: an open Mediterranean city, proud of its history, inspired by its diversity and ready to welcome the world.
